What changed

Copilot Search added a dedicated mode in Bing that returns a synthesised answer with inline citations while keeping web links available alongside it. It positioned generative answering as a first-class search mode rather than a chat sidebar. For publishers it consolidated Microsoft's several AI answering surfaces into a single, more discoverable experience within the search product.
