Google Content Warehouse API documentation leak
Thousands of internal Google Search API documentation modules leaked, listing over 14,000 ranking-related attributes.
What changed
In late May 2024 internal documentation for Google's Content Warehouse API was published after being briefly exposed in a public code repository, and was analysed by the SEO industry. It described more than 2,500 modules and roughly 14,000 attributes covering concepts such as site-level authority scores, click and hover metrics, Chrome-derived data and content freshness. Google confirmed the documents were authentic but cautioned strongly against drawing conclusions about ranking from out-of-context, potentially outdated or unused fields. This was revealed through a leak rather than announced by Google, and none of it constitutes official guidance.
Timing
Rollout began 27 May 2024. No completion date was announced. Rankings typically remain unstable for the whole rollout window, so measurements taken inside it are not a reliable read on the outcome.
