Search Generative AI performance reports in Search Console
Google began reporting performance in AI Overviews and AI Mode separately within Search Console, addressing a long-standing publisher request.
What changed
Google introduced generative AI performance reporting in Search Console, separating impressions and clicks originating in AI experiences from conventional web results. Until this point AI Overviews and AI Mode data was aggregated into the main web search totals, which made it impossible for publishers to measure the effect of AI answers on their traffic. The reports were the most-requested Search Console feature since AI Overviews launched in 2024.
Timing
Rollout began 3 June 2026. No completion date was announced. Rankings typically remain unstable for the whole rollout window, so measurements taken inside it are not a reliable read on the outcome.
