HowTo and FAQ rich result deprecation
Google removed HowTo rich results entirely and restricted FAQ rich results to authoritative government and health sites.
What changed
Google announced it was reducing the visibility of two widely used structured data types as part of a drive to simplify the results page. FAQ rich results were limited to well-known authoritative government and health websites, and HowTo rich results were dropped from desktop as well as mobile. Google said the markup could remain in place without causing problems but would no longer generate enhanced listings for most sites, and the corresponding Search Console reports were removed. Many publishers had adopted the markup specifically for the extra SERP real estate it provided.
Timing
Rollout began 8 August 2023. No completion date was announced. Rankings typically remain unstable for the whole rollout window, so measurements taken inside it are not a reliable read on the outcome.
