Simplifying the search results page

Google began removing rarely used rich result types and SERP enhancements as part of a deliberate simplification programme.

What changed

Google announced a programme to reduce visual clutter on the results page by retiring rich result types with low usage or low user value, continuing the direction set by the 2023 FAQ and HowTo changes. Affected structured data types stopped generating enhanced listings, and the corresponding Search Console reports were retired alongside them. Google followed up with a further update on the programme in November 2025. Only the month of the announcement is documented here.

Timing

Rollout began 1 June 2025. No completion date was announced. Rankings typically remain unstable for the whole rollout window, so measurements taken inside it are not a reliable read on the outcome.
