Google announced an alpha programme for a Google Trends API providing consistently scaled search interest data over a rolling five-year window, with breakdowns by region and time. Until this point practitioners relied on scraping or unofficial libraries. Access was limited to alpha testers at launch. Only the month of announcement is documented here.
